Thelma Johnson Streat Creative Exploration Scholarship

This scholarship is dedicated to supporting the artistic aspirations of Black graduating seniors in Washington County, recognizing the transformative power of creative expression. In honor of the remarkable artist Thelma Johnson Streat, this scholarship celebrates the rich legacy of artistic achievement and innovation within the Black community.

E. Shelton Hill Scholarship

Community College or Trade School

This scholarship is dedicated to supporting the educational aspirations of Black graduating seniors in Washington County pursuing careers in skilled trades. We honor the legacy of E. Shelton Hill, a pioneering civil rights champion. 

UMOJA Black Achievement Scholarship 

4-Year University

The Black Achievement Scholarship is intended to support the academic success of Black graduating seniors within Washington County. The scholarship honors the enduring legacy of achievement and creativity from those who have come before us. From Katherine Johnson to Benjamin Banneker, and the thousands of other scientists, artists, teachers, lawyers, and movement makers, Black people have persevered through racial injustice to achieve excellence and positive change for our communities and nation. We believe in the potential that our youth have to be the next generation of change agents - to make this world a better, safer, stronger, and more beautiful place to be.
